Disruptive technologies and changing consumer behaviors require the OEB to innovate and transform its digital tools to improve operational efficiency and data integrity.
The BOOST (Business Operations Optimization and System Transformation) Program is a multi-year initiative designed to update the OEB's information management system and incorporate AI-driven document search capabilities. By leveraging current and emerging technologies, this program will modernize the OEB’s business and adjudicative processes, streamline interactions with regulated entities, and introduce new functionality for the sector.
Phase One - OEB iSearch - 2024
The first phase focuses on enhancing search capabilities. Currently, the OEB's adjudicative documents are accessed through a Regulatory Document Search (RDS) service. Updating this service with Microsoft's Azure AI Search will give stakeholders advanced tools to more efficiently and effectively search through the OEB's adjudicative documents. This upgrade will significantly improve user experience and access to information.
Phase Two - Implementing Microsoft Dynamics and Power Apps - 2024 to 2027
The second phase will modernize the OEB's information management software. Many OEB activities, including adjudicative case management, call center operations, license registry, reporting, and analytics, depend on the current system, as do numerous sector participants who interact with the OEB. Replacing this system with a leading modern platform will enhance process efficiency, secure information and files more effectively, simplify reporting, and add new functionalities.
The OEB will seek feedback to ensure that external stakeholder requirements are integrated into the new system's development. More details will be provided on this page as the work progresses.
