Future Utility Business Models
The OEB has started preliminary work on the regulatory considerations related to Distribution System Operator (DSO) functionalities under review in various forums in Ontario. A DSO is an entity with advanced capabilities to integrate, manage and optimize Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) for distribution and transmission services.
This effort is foundational to the OEB's upcoming work on Future Utility Business Models and is in connection to several ongoing OEB grid modernization activities, including the Non-Wires Solutions Guidelines, OEB/IESO's DER Integration Joint Targeted Call, and Innovation Sandbox Challenge.
