OEB releases report on streamlining Ontario’s electricity connection framework

The OEB has released its report to the Minister of Energy and Mines , Streamlining Ontario's Electricity Connection Framework: Enabling Growth and Meeting Customer Expectations.

The Report was informed by the OEB’s review of distribution and transmission customer connection procedures across Ontario’s electricity sector, including input from stakeholders through working groups, written submissions and surveys. For the Streamlining Transmission Connections Review, Part II of the Report outlines the following proposals to streamline the transmission connections process, reduce overall connection timelines, increase efficiency of coordination between transmitters and the IESO and implement performance standards for transmitters.

The transmission-related proposals include:

  • formalizing a comprehensive and streamlined transmission connection process
  • establishing performance standards along with public reporting requirements for transmitters

The OEB will now move forward with Phase II of the Streamlining Transmission Connections Review to implement the actions outlined in the Report.
