The letter describes the expectation of increased impacts on electricity systems arising from extreme weather events as a result of climate change. It points to a key role for the OEB in ensuring that utility services feature appropriate levels of reliability and resiliency for customers, that they make the right investments required to do so, and that they continue to respond to customers’ needs and deliver on public policy expectations, while aggressively pursuing efficiencies.
In response, the OEB is conducting research and gathering input from stakeholders that will contribute to a report for the Minister of Energy by June 30, 2023.
